A pneumatic cylinder is a cylinder that moves due to air pressure. Pneumatic cylinders are widely used in production processes and mechanical engineering. There is a lot of variation and choice in the field of pneumatic cylinders. For example, the standard round cylinders, or the ISO 6432,15552 and 21287. \u00a0In addition to the standard and ISO cylinders, we have cylinders that are specially developed for the food industry. A pneumatic cylinder is often first choice because of its low purchase costs, simple control, easy installation and reliability.<\/p>\n\n

Types of cylinders and their advantages<\/h2>\n\n

There are various hydraulic dampers, each with their own advantages. The most common shock absorbers are described below.<\/p>\n\n

Single acting:<\/strong> the cylinder is pneumatically operated in one direction and returns with a spring<\/p>\n\n

Double-acting cylinder:<\/strong> it works in 2 directions, both in and out and can be operated pneumatically.<\/p>\n\n

Double piston rod:<\/strong> this is used if there is a lot of side load.<\/p>\n\n

Compact:<\/strong> for installation in smaller spaces.<\/p>\n\n

Cartridge:<\/strong> when you want to integrate a cylinder into a system, for example in a manifold.<\/p>\n\n

Turn cylinder:<\/strong> this cylinder is also called rotation or rotating cylinder. This is for rotating movements and opening and closing hatches.<\/p>\n\n

Piston rod empty cylinder:<\/strong> it is used for longer strokes, such as for cutting large paper sheets in the paper industry.<\/p>\n\n

Stainless steel:<\/strong> Stainless steel is corrosion resistant and therefore suitable for use in the food industry.<\/p>\n\n

Plastic end caps:<\/strong> this type is used in industries where chemicals are used. This could also be the food industry as cleaning can also be done with chemicals.<\/p>\n

Friction-less cylinders <\/strong>these cylinders are not sensitive to so-called stick-slip. The piston is air mounted and therefore has no friction. The friction-less cylinders are used in applications where something needs to be kept under tension. They do not wear out, as there is no friction. These cylinders can also make a mass vertically weightless by continuously regulating the pressure with a proportional valve.<\/p>\n\n
